Privacy Notice

I am Dr Bruce Jobling t/a The Private GP Service of The Surgery, 96 Church Road, Gatley, Cheshire, SK8 4NQ (The Private GP). The Private GP acts as data controller in respect of your personal data. If you have any queries in respect of your personal data or this notice or you wish to speak to our data protection manager (Dr Bruce Jobling) you can do so by writing to us at the above address, calling us on 0161 980 2626 or emailing us at info@ThePrivateGP.uk.  

This notice sets out how The Private GP will use your personal data as part of the GP services The Private GP provides to you (or in which you have indicated an interest). Please ensure that you have read and understood this notice and keep a copy for future reference.  

The Private GP may collect and hold the following personal data about you: your name, address, email address, phone number, date of birth, gender, details of next of kin/emergency contact information and medical records (which will include details of your health, including any medical conditions and sex life/sexual preferences to the extent this relates to any symptoms/clinical treatment we are discussing with you). To help us keep your data accurate and ensure that The Private GP can provide the highest quality service to you, please let us know if there are any changes to your personal data. 

The Private GP uses your personal data to provide our GP services to you, comply with our legal obligations and to send you details of available appointments and appointment reminders by your preferred contact method. The Private GP uses the personal data set out above to provide our GP services to you in accordance with the contract to provide medical services which we have with you (or to provide information about our services in contemplation of your entering into a contract with us) and to comply with our legal and regulatory obligations as a provider of medical services. The Private GP is a professional organisation subject to an obligation of professional secrecy.

The Private GP may contact you by email (or post if you do not have an email address or do not wish us to use you email address for this purpose) to send you details of available appointments, reminders to book your regular health check and related information about our surgery and the GP services we provide to you (GP Updates). The Private GP may contact you with GP Updates on the basis of our legitimate interests of developing our relationship with our patients, promoting our services and growing our business. Where you receive GP Updates by email, you can unsubscribe from receiving these by following the “unsubscribe” link contained in each email we send to you. You also have a right to object to us sending you GP Updates (by email or post), please see below for further information.

You have a right to object to The Private GP sending you GP Updates. If you do object then we will not be able to send you details of available appointments, reminders to book your regular health check or related information. This may mean that you find it harder to find available appointments, miss out on suggested health and wellbeing actions and do not hear about new services we offer from time to time.

The Private GP does not transfer any of your data outside of the European Economic Area.   

The Private GP will share some of your personal data with selected third party processors in order to provide our GP Services to you. This will include our IT service provider, our email platform provider and our document shredding provider who will process your personal data on our behalf.

The Private GP may also share some of your personal data with selected healthcare/wellbeing professionals, specialists and your NHS GP, with your consent. If, following consultation with you, The Private GP feels you may benefit from receiving the services of any third party healthcare/wellbeing professional, e.g. surgeons, nutritionists, dentists, physiotherapists etc., The Private GP may (with your consent) share some of your personal data with such third party as a referral so they can contact you about the services they may be able to provide to you. The Private GP will, on your request (and with your consent) share some of your personal data with your NHS GP. Where The Private GP shares your personal data with a third party who provides associated health/wellbeing services and/or your GP they shall also become a data controller in respect of your personal data and you should review their privacy policy to ensure that you are comfortable with their use of your personal data.

The Private GP may also be required by law or regulation to share your personal data with HM Revenue & Customs and other regulatory authorities although this will not include any of your medical records unless we notify you otherwise.

The Private GP will retain and process your personal data in accordance with industry guidance. The Private GP will continue to hold and use your personal data as set out above for:
(i) where you are an adult, such time as you are a patient at our surgery (to enable us to provide our GP services to you during this period) and thereafter will continue to hold these for record keeping purposes for up to ten years after your death; and
(ii) where you are a child aged 17 or under, such time as you are a patient and thereafter until your 26th birthday (unless you continue to be a patient after your 17th birthday, in which case we will continue to hold your data as an adult for the period set out above),
to ensure we comply with our legal obligations, good industry practice and to assist us in defending any potential claims. 

The Private GP have put in place appropriate security measures to protect your personal data from being accidentally lost, used or accessed in an unauthorised way, altered or disclosed. In addition, The Private GP limits access to your personal data to those employees, agents, contractors and other third parties who have a business need to know such information. These parties will only process your personal data on our instructions and they are subject to a duty of confidentiality. Details of your medical records are stored on a nationally recognised, secure (password protected), login only GP software system and your other personal data is stored in a locked electronic and/or physical file to which only your GP has access.  

You have the following rights in respect of the personal data The Private GP holds about you: (i) a right of access to such data; (ii) a right to object to our processing for direct marketing purposes; (iii) a right (in certain circumstances) to request that your personal data be transferred to you or a third party; and (iv) a right (in certain circumstances) to have inaccurate personal data rectified, blocked, erased or destroyed. If you wish to exercise any of these rights, please contact us in writing. You also have a right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) but we request that you contact us before escalating any complaint to the ICO. 

The Private GP may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in the way we use your personal data or legal/regulatory requirements. If we do update this policy, The Private GP will let you know by sending a copy of the updated policy to you.
